Speaking at the 27th Raising day celebrations of Rapid Action Force- RAF at Vastral in Ahmedabad, Shah said that the steps taken by the government will bring ever- lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and enable it to head towards development.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for receiving the 'Global Goalkeeper Award', saying it is a recognition of new India's resolve for cleanliness under his leadership.

The 2021 census, also the 16th Indian census, will continue till February 2021 and culminate on March 1 midnight, Shah said while laying the foundation stone of Janganana Bhawan here.

Addressing a rally here, Shah gave clear indications that the BJP would raise removal of special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 at the hustings.  

Speaking to reporters, he said the Centre has assured that a decision on providing assistance from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) will be taken after a central team, which is assessing the extent of damage in the state, submits its report in the next two-three days.

Terming the move to revoke the Constitution's Article 370 as a "historic decision" on Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said while the BJP had struggled for "one nation, one Prime Minister and one constitution", the Congress was indulging in politicising an issue involving the nation's security.

Shah's statement comes at a time when the BJP and the Sena are trying to finalise a seat-sharing deal for the crucial elections.

"I congratulate Prime Minsiter Modi's bravery and grit. He removed Article 370 and 35A in the very first session of the Parliament as soon as we formed the govt for the second time with 305 seats," Amit Shah said.

A joint delegation of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Jamiat Ahle Hadees Hind called on Shah at his residence and issued a statement later.  

On a three-day visit to Delhi, Mamata Banerjee refused to answer any “political” questions over her meeting with PM Modi and insisted that it was a “government to government” meeting and discussion was mostly on development issues of Bengal.

The grouping comprises states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan besides union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Shah, the BJP president, had on Saturday pitched for a common language for the country, saying it is Hindi which is spoken the most and that it can unite the whole country.

Shah also said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should tell people of Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana, when he goes there, whether he was with the decision to abrogate Article 370.

Speaking at the fifth edition of the Ramayana Festival, BJP President and Union Home Minister Amit Shah called Ramayana, the Hindu epic, as the solution of all global problems. "Ramayana is the solution to your personal, social, national and global problems," said Shah.

Addressing a function here on Monday, the Chief Minister said, "There are examples of successful countries, like Japan, Russia, Germany and France, which grew without the help of English."
